| Rabbi Yohanan said in the name of Rabbi Yossi: from where do we know that the Holy Blessed One prays? As Scripture says: “I will bring them to my sacred mountain and let them rejoice in [literally] the house of My prayer . . .†(Isaiah 56:7). It doesn’t say “the house of their prayerâ€, rather, “the house of My prayerâ€, to teach us that the Holy Blessed One prays.
What does God pray? Mar Zutra bar Tuvia says in the name of Rav: “May it be My will that My mercy overcome My anger; My mercy dominate amongst My attributes; I act toward my children with the attribute of mercy; and I go beyond the strictures of the law for their sake.†(Yalkut Shimoni, Isaiah, 485) |
